An AI voice agent can answer your store's phone or call your shoppers. We sorted the tools by job, priced them at real monthly volumes, and checked every AI phone app we found on the Shopify App Store.
Ringly charges $1.99 for each conversation after the first 50. Ava AI's $99 plan covers support and cart calls; support alone is $29. Monthly costs compared
An AI voice agent holds a phone conversation in a natural-sounding voice. For an online store it does one of two jobs: it answers the calls customers make (where is my order, returns, product questions), or it calls shoppers (abandoned checkouts, failed payments, upsells). Most tools are built for one of the two, so the picks below are sorted by job.
Outcraft AI pays us a commission if you sign up through our links, and other vendors here may too. Outcraft comes first among the tools that call shoppers because one per-lead price covers calls, texts, email and WhatsApp, and it works on failed payments and upsells as well as carts. For tools that answer calls, we weigh what a month of calls costs and what the agent can do with an order. We haven't made test calls to these agents yet, so nothing here rates call quality: prices, features and ratings come from each vendor's pricing page, documentation and Shopify App Store listing (G2 for Outcraft and Retell), checked 1 October 2026. How we compare.
Our picks
Best for recovering sales by phone
Outcraft AI
Calls and messages shoppers within minutes of an abandoned checkout, chases failed payments and makes post-purchase upsell calls. One per-lead price covers calls, texts, email and WhatsApp.
Answers order-status, return, exchange and product calls 24/7, priced per conversation, not per minute. Not happy in the first 30 days? Ringly gives the $99 back.
Two jobs: answering the store's phone, or calling shoppers
Answering calls. Customers phone about their orders. Gorgias, which sells customer service software to online stores, says “where is my order?” is the most common question in ecommerce, at 18% of incoming requests on average across its customers (Gorgias). In Narvar's 2025 survey of 3,461 US online shoppers, 74% had a late delivery in the past year and 86% at least one delivery problem (Narvar). The National Retail Federation expected 19.3% of online sales to be returned in 2025 (NRF). These are the calls an AI agent connected to your store can take at any hour: it looks up the order, reads the tracking status, starts the return and passes the rest to your team.
Calling shoppers. The AI phones shoppers who left checkout, whose payment failed or who bought recently, answers their questions and texts them a link. Treat cart and upsell calls as sales calls: FCC rules define telemarketing as a call made “for the purpose of encouraging the purchase” of goods, so get the shopper's written consent before an AI calls (see the rules). Our guide to AI abandoned cart recovery calls covers this job in depth.
Ringly and CallFlows are built to answer, and Callsy, Conversa and Callfy to call. Outcraft, Ava AI and Loop do both, and Consio answers with AI and calls out with people.
Shopify App Store star rating with the number of reviews, checked 1 October 2026. “Built for Shopify” is Shopify's badge for apps that meet its standards. Callsy's website plan, unlike its Shopify plans, also counts inbound calls.

G2 4.8 from 14 reviews
Why it fits
Calls and messages shoppers within minutes of the drop-off, it says, answers what stopped the sale and sends a checkout link they can use on the spot.
Recovers failed payments on a call and reaches subscribers before a renewal they were about to skip.
Follows up after delivery with an add-on that fits what the customer bought.
Picks the channel for each customer (call, text, email or WhatsApp) and adds calls on top of your Klaviyo flows.
Watch for
Priced per lead, so it costs more than the per-minute apps if all you need is someone to answer support calls.
No Shopify App Store app: it connects to Shopify directly.
Its FAQ promises a free plan, while its terms describe a free trial that turns into a paid plan. Check the limits when you sign up.
SOC 2 and HIPAA are listed as in progress, and its terms make you responsible for shoppers' consent to AI calls.

Rating
Shopify 4.6 from 3 reviews
Why it fits
Knows the caller and their orders before it picks up, and escalates by transferring the call, emailing your team or opening a helpdesk ticket.
Keep your number and forward calls to it, or use the number that comes with it.
Set a monthly spending limit, and it pauses when you reach it.
Month to month; above 1,000 calls a month, Ringly works out a custom rate.
Watch for
Built for incoming support calls; its pricing page doesn't cover calls to shoppers.
You pay the $99 even in a month with fewer than 50 conversations.
The 65% guarantee pays account credit, not cash, and only applies after 90 days on the plan with 300 conversations in those 90 days (about 100 a month) and certain settings switched on (Ringly).
A low-cost way to put AI on both jobs: it answers your store line from $29 a month, and the $99 plan adds calls to shoppers who abandon checkout.
Price
Support $29 / month for 100 minutes, then $0.10 a minute; Recover $99 for 400, then $0.08; Scale $499 for 1,500, then $0.07

Works with
Shopify Flow, Klaviyo, Omnisend
Rating
Shopify 5.0 from 6 reviews; Built for Shopify
Why it fits
On inbound calls it answers product and policy questions, looks up orders, texts tracking numbers, edits items and processes refunds while the shopper is on the line.
On cart calls it answers objections and can text the checkout link mid-call.
Comes with a dedicated store number; calls are recorded and transcribed.
Takes no commission on the sales it recovers.
Watch for
Launched in September 2025, and none of its six reviews mentions cart calls.
We found no calling-hours, do-not-call or consent settings on its listing or website.
A phone system for Shopify brands: an AI agent answers inbound calls 24/7 with the caller's order history, and your team, or Consio's own sales reps, run outbound campaigns from a power dialer.
Price
Free setup; $30 / month for 100 call minutes, $60 for 400, $120 for 1,000; $0.10 per extra minute
AI time
$0.30 a minute on top of call time: $0.40 per AI-handled minute (our math), so the $30 plan covers about 25 AI-handled minutes
Human sales reps
$12 to $14 an hour plus $5 per attributed sale
Works with
Gorgias, Klaviyo, Kustomer, Richpanel, Zendesk
Rating
Shopify 5.0 from 41 reviews
Why it fits
The AI checks order status, starts returns and exchanges against your policy, handles cancellations and address changes, and can build a new order during the call.
Transfers high-intent callers live, with their Shopify history already pulled up.
Outbound calling hours are set per campaign, in each contact's time zone.
Unanswered calls are free; port your number or get a new one, with extra numbers at $9 a month.
Watch for
Its outbound cart campaigns are run by people, with a dialer and voicemail drops. We found no page saying the AI itself calls shoppers.
AI time costs three times the call minute, and going past your allowance moves you up a plan automatically.
A per-minute AI phone line for Shopify support: order status, tracking, stock, product questions, refunds, exchanges, cancellations and orders by phone, in 50+ languages.
Price
Basic $39 / month for 100 minutes, then $0.19 a minute; Advanced $119 for 450, then $0.16; Pro $349 for 1,600, then $0.14

Shopify 4.4 from 16 reviews; Built for Shopify
Based in
Sofia, Bulgaria
Why it fits
Use the local number it provides or forward your existing line.
Records and transcribes every call, and routes complex cases to your staff.
Can place an order during the call.
Watch for
Answers calls only; its listing offers no outbound calls.
Ten of its 5-star reviews are dated the same day, 14 August 2026, and nine come from stores listed in Hong Kong (Shopify reviews).
Calls 5 minutes after the checkout is abandoned and, it says, caps retries at two attempts and doesn't call outside daytime hours in the shopper's time zone.
Says every call opens with an AI disclosure; do-not-call lists come with the $99 and $199 plans.
Watch for
Its Shopify plans cover calls to shoppers, not answering your store line.
Its website lists different prices (a €49 Pro plan) from its Shopify listing.
Loop answers support calls and calls shoppers about carts, upsells and win-backs. Paid plans start at $119 a month for 120 credits, “for 3–6 conversations per day” (a free plan gives 10 credits), but the listing doesn't say what a credit buys (Shopify App Store).
Voice.ai is a general voice platform with an ecommerce agent that tracks shipments, handles returns and calls abandoned carts; it names Shopify and Magento as platforms it connects to (Voice.ai). Its Core plan is $99 a month for 1,000 agent minutes, and the same credits pay for its other voice tools (Voice.ai).
Conversa and Callfy only call abandoned carts: Conversa charges $0.75 a call, Callfy a share of recovered sales. Both are covered in our cart-calls guide.
Every AI phone app we found on the Shopify App Store
Searching the Shopify App Store for an AI phone agent turns up real phone agents, cart callers and website widgets side by side. These are the ones that make or take phone calls, with their rating and cheapest plan:
Listings read 1 October 2026, sorted by number of reviews. Entry price is the cheapest plan that includes calls. Fifteen of these 22 apps launched in 2025 or 2026, so a 5.0 from a handful of reviews tells you little yet. Addresses are the ones developers give Shopify; Ava AI's website says it's developed in Texas and Florida.
We also found AI calling apps built mainly for WhatsApp and cash-on-delivery order confirmation in India, and two cart-calling apps that are no longer available on the store.
Voice widgets aren't phone agents
Some apps that show up for “AI voice agent” searches talk to shoppers on your website, not on the phone. Vocify is a free storefront voice widget that runs on your own ElevenLabs account (4.6 from 7 reviews), and Omakase.ai is a voice and chat shopping assistant from $49 a month for 100 conversations (4.3 from 5). They can help shoppers browse, but they won't pick up your phone.
If you already use a helpdesk
Zendesk made voice AI agents generally available on 1 September 2026 to customers who use Zendesk Talk. They handle calls end to end, transfer to an agent when needed and work in 53 languages. Billing is per automated resolution, plus telephony, a charge for the AI agent's time on the call and call recording; the announcement doesn't give the rates (Zendesk).
Gorgias's own AI Agent works over email, chat, SMS and social channels, not phone calls (Gorgias). Gorgias Voice, the phone add-on for your human agents, starts at $70 a month plus usage (Gorgias). For AI on the phone, Gorgias works with partner apps such as Consio, whose AI answers when your team doesn't pick up within a time you set (Gorgias), and Flip CX (Gorgias).
Gladly offers AI on voice as an add-on through its sales team (Gladly); Kustomer launched AI agents for voice in October 2024 (Kustomer); and Intercom's Fin Voice is on custom pricing for select customers (Fin). None of the three publishes a voice price.
Build your own on a voice AI platform
Developer platforms supply the voice, the speech recognition and the phone line. You write the agent's instructions, connect it to your store (through its API, or tools like Zapier and Make) and set up consent, calling hours and opt-outs yourself. Their per-minute rates can be low, but each part is billed separately, and they take the most work.
Built in India; supports US calling through Twilio. Calling-hour limits are off by default (Bolna docs), and its pricing page doesn't say whether phone charges are included
Prices from each pricing page, checked 1 October 2026. For phone lines bought separately, Twilio charges $0.014 a minute for US outbound calls and $0.0085 for incoming calls to a local number (Twilio).
Some “best of” lists still include Air AI. We left it out: the FTC sued its makers in August 2025, alleging deceptive claims about business growth, earnings and refunds. In March 2026 they agreed to a proposed settlement that would ban them from marketing business opportunities (FTC, FTC).
Enterprise retail
Most voice AI for large retailers is sold through a sales team, on custom pricing:
PolyAI prices per minute but doesn't publish its rates (PolyAI). Its case study says Carter's, the children's clothing retailer, cut seasonal hiring by 60% (PolyAI).
Parloa charges by consumption, tied to the complexity of each task (Parloa). It names Decathlon and the home-shopping company HSE as customers; HSE, by Parloa's count, handles 3 million calls a year through it (Parloa).
NiCE Cognigy (NiCE completed its purchase of Cognigy in September 2025) lists order tracking, exchanges and refunds and abandoned-cart recovery among its retail uses, with Mister Spex and Fabletics as named customers (Cognigy, Cognigy, NiCE).
Sobot sells AI agent editions at $39, $149 and $499 a month, each with a set number of automated resolutions, and bills resolutions at $0.98 each, but doesn't publish voice minute rates. It names Samsung, SHEIN and Michael Kors among its users (Sobot).
What it costs
Vendors charge by the minute, the conversation, the call, the lead or a share of sales. To compare them, here's the monthly bill at two volumes.
3-minute calls; the cheapest published plan for each volume plus published overage. CallFlows' Advanced plan also comes to $191 at 300 calls, with 10 calls at once instead of 2. Voice.ai's credits are shared with its other voice tools, and it publishes no overage rate. Consio: our estimate from its $120 plan plus $0.10 per extra call minute, at 24 credits per AI-handled minute; Consio says it moves you up a plan when credits run out. Ringly doesn't bill spam, wrong numbers, hang-ups or callers who only want a person. Prices checked 1 October 2026.
One call per cart; Ava AI at 2 minutes a call, as on our cart-calls guide. Outcraft's per-lead price includes calls, texts, email and WhatsApp for each lead. Prices checked 1 October 2026.
A person costs more: one US outbound call center puts US rates at about $25 to $35 an hour per agent, plus $2,500 to $10,000 or more to set up (Quality Contact Solutions). For human answering services, see our main comparison.
What callers think of AI on the phone
Many customers would rather not talk to an AI. In a Gartner survey of 5,728 customers, run in December 2023 and published in July 2024, 64% said they'd prefer companies didn't use AI in customer service, and 53% would consider switching to a competitor if they found out a company was going to (Gartner). In Gartner's 2026 survey of 3,566 customers, 87% said companies using generative AI must offer a way to reach a person (Gartner). And in a McKinsey survey of 3,500 consumers, people of every age, Gen Z included, named live phone conversations among their most preferred ways to get help (McKinsey).
So say up front that it's an AI, make “talk to a person” work on the first ask, and send what the AI can't solve to your team with a summary. Ringly, Ava AI, Consio and CallFlows can all hand a call to your team; check that it works before you go live.
US rules: recording, AI calls and consent
This is a summary, not legal advice.
Recording. About a dozen states, including California, Florida, Illinois, Pennsylvania and Washington, require everyone on a call to agree to it being recorded (Kilpatrick Townsend). Most of these agents record and transcribe calls, so open with a line such as “This call may be recorded.” Gorgias suggests that greeting for its own phone product, and says not to take card details while recording is on (Gorgias).
Calls to shoppers. In February 2024 the FCC ruled that AI-generated voices count as artificial voices under the federal robocall law, the TCPA (FCC 24-17). FCC rules require the shopper's prior express written consent for sales calls that use one (47 CFR 64.1200). A February 2026 appeals ruling accepts oral consent in Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi (Bradford v. Sovereign Pest Control, Holland & Knight), but for a store that sells nationwide, written consent is still the safe standard. Shopify's default checkout box, “Text me with news and offers”, doesn't mention calls (CartBoss).
On every sales call. Say the store's name and a number the shopper can call back, give an opt-out within two seconds of the name, call only between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m. in the shopper's time zone (8 a.m. to 8 p.m. in Florida and Oklahoma), and keep a do-not-call list (47 CFR 64.1200, Florida, Oklahoma). Our cart-calls guide has the full checklist and example consent wording.
How to test an AI voice agent before you commit
Ava AI's trial lasts 7 days and CallFlows' 14; Ringly gives the $99 back within 30 days. Use the time to call it yourself:
Call with a real order number and ask where the order is. Check the status and tracking it reads out.
Give a wrong order number or someone else's email. It should ask you to verify, not read out another customer's order.
Ask to return an item outside your return window. It should apply your policy, not make an exception.
Ask a product question your site doesn't answer. It should say it doesn't know and pass it on, not guess.
Interrupt it mid-sentence and change your question.
Say “I want to talk to a person” once, and time how long the transfer or call-back takes.
Call at 2 a.m. and on a weekend.
Call in Spanish, or your customers' second language.
Read the transcript, the recording and the summary your team receives.
For cart calls, abandon a checkout yourself, time the first call, then say “Stop calling me” and check that nothing else arrives. More tests are in the cart-calls guide.
It depends on the job. To call shoppers who abandon checkout or whose payment failed, Outcraft AI is the done-for-you choice at $300 a month for up to 100 leads, with texts, email and WhatsApp included. To answer support calls on a Shopify store, Ringly.io charges $99 a month for 50 conversations and $1.99 after that, and once you've had 300 conversations in 90 days it credits back any month it resolves under 65% of calls. Ava AI does both on a budget: $29 a month for support calls, $99 with cart calls.
Which AI voice agent is best for a small online store?
Ava AI is our budget pick: $29 a month for 100 minutes of support calls, or $99 with cart calls. To try cart calls first, Callsy gives 20 free calls. If you want a guarantee, Ringly gives the $99 back if you're not happy within 30 days; its 65% resolution guarantee only applies after 90 days and 300 conversations, so it suits busier stores.
How much do AI voice agents cost?
Published prices run from about 5 to 40 cents a minute. Vapi charges $0.05 a minute before speech, AI model and phone costs; Retell ranges from $0.07 to $0.31; Bland is $0.14 with the AI model and voice included. Ava AI and CallFlows sell 100 minutes for $29 and $39 a month, while Consio's $30 plan covers about 25 minutes of AI-handled calls. Ringly charges per conversation ($1.99 after the first 50), Outcraft per lead ($3 at its entry price) and Callfy a share of recovered sales.
How much does an AI phone agent cost a Shopify store each month?
At 100 calls a month of 3 minutes each, from $49 with Ava AI to $198.50 with Ringly. At 300 calls: $99 with Voice.ai, $109 with Ava AI, $191 with CallFlows, about $380 with Consio and $596.50 with Ringly, before taxes.
Can an AI voice agent answer “where is my order” calls?
Yes. Ringly, Ava AI, Consio and CallFlows look up the order during the call and read out its status or tracking, and Ava AI can text the tracking number. Gorgias data puts these questions at about 18% of incoming support requests.
Can an AI voice agent process returns and refunds?
Some can act, not just explain. Ava AI processes refunds and edits items while the shopper is on the line, and Consio starts the return or exchange against your policy and texts the next steps. Ringly handles return and exchange calls, and CallFlows' listing names refunds, exchanges and cancellations; neither says whether it creates the return itself.
Can I keep my store's phone number?
Usually. Ringly works with call forwarding, CallFlows can forward your existing line, and Consio lets you port your number. Ava AI gives you a dedicated store number.
Do Gorgias or Zendesk have an AI voice agent?
Zendesk does: voice AI agents became generally available on 1 September 2026 for Zendesk Talk customers, billed per automated resolution plus telephony and the AI agent's time on the call. Gorgias's AI Agent doesn't take phone calls; for AI on the phone it works with partner apps such as Consio.
Can an AI voice agent call customers who abandoned their cart?
Yes, if they agreed to it. Outcraft, Ava AI (on its $99 plan), Callsy, Loop, Conversa and Callfy all call abandoned checkouts. In the US, FCC rules require the shopper's prior express written consent for sales calls with an AI voice. A 2026 appeals ruling accepts oral consent in Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi, but written consent is still the safe standard, and Shopify's default checkout box doesn't cover calls.
Do customers mind talking to an AI?
Many would rather not. In a Gartner survey published in 2024, 64% of customers said they'd prefer companies didn't use AI in customer service, and in 2026, 87% said companies using generative AI must offer a way to reach a person. Say it's an AI up front and make the transfer to your team easy.
Do AI voice agents work with WooCommerce or other platforms?
Most of the apps here are Shopify-only. Callsy says it also works with WooCommerce and WordPress, Outcraft connects to CheckoutChamp and through Zapier, Make or a custom API, Voice.ai names Shopify and Magento, and platforms like Retell, Vapi and Bland connect to anything with an API.
What's the difference between an AI voice agent and an IVR?
An IVR plays a menu (“press 1 for orders”) and routes the call. An AI voice agent holds a conversation: the caller says what they need in their own words, and the agent looks up the order, answers or acts, and hands off to a person when it can't help.
